- Planning for a Human Flu Pandemic
- The Cabinet Office has recently revised its Guidance on Contingency Planning for a Possible Influenza Pandemic [PDF, 260KB, 16 pages] to provide further information on issues such as staff absence.
- The Department for Children, Schools and Families, in consultation with other Government departments and external partners, has produced guidance documents to help schools and other bodies plan for a human flu pandemic [External website]. This is part of the Government's coordinated efforts to encourage prudent planning across all sectors, in preparing and planning for a possible human flu pandemic.
- The key message in this guidance is that in a human flu pandemic, in order to reduce the spread of infection among children, the Government may advise schools and childcare providers to close to children for part or all of the pandemic. The closure of these services would have an impact on parents working in all sectors, and thus on their employers. It is therefore relevant to contingency planning by all organisations.
- SISBO Forum on Avian Flu and Human Pandemic Planning [PDF, 2 pages, 87KB] - The Foreign Office informed the group about their "Security Information Service for Business Overseas" forum meeting on the 1st December designed to help businesses based abroad or with overseas interests.
